Discipleship for Oral Learners
“Two thirds of all people in the world are oral communicators –
those who can’t, don’t, or won’t learn through literate means.” (ION)
Our Oral Discipleship Program covers the same themes as our Level 1 course, but is especially designed for new believers who prefer oral communication and would rather learn in a group setting than individually. This includes learners who have a high level of education but who favour an oral learning style; those who have had limited schooling and may experience difficulties when following a written course; or simply those who never learned to read. This program is particularly appropriate for groups of mixed educational levels.
Progressing Together – Orality Version deals with seventy major topics of discipleship. A variety of methods are used to help the new believers understand, retain and apply the biblical truths they are learning: drama, miming, drawing, songs, various memorisation tools, prayer, discussion times, practical applications, audio-visual resources, etc.
The manual containing the lesson plans of Progressing Together Level 1 – Orality version cannot be downloaded from this website, for the simple reason that future facilitators need to participate in a training seminar that will enable them to teach these oral lessons in an effective way. The manual is handed over to the participants during the training event. For more information on training events in your area, please contact us at: [email protected]
From one of our trainees, using our Oral Discipleship program in a rural setting:
“I really enjoy teaching my group orally. All the participants take an active part in the lesson, whether they are able to read or not. It’s also really encouraging to see how much they remember from previous lessons and to witness the fruit this is producing in their lives. I thank the Lord that he has given me the privilege to experience this.”
