New Course Introductory Video: How can my skills serve the Church? (Arabic with English Subtitles)
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. Romans 12:6-8
He died for all, that those that live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. (2 Corinthians 5:15)
The life of the Christian has some tremendous advantages and privileges. However, at the same time the believer in Christ faces great challenges and responsibilities. You have already understood this as you meditated on these truths in previous lessons. You have seen what this means with respect to persecution, to spiritual warfare and your relationships with other people. A Christian lives for God and for other people. This is how we show our love for Christ and our commitment to the Kingdom of God. The Bible makes it very clear that as God’s people we are redeemed in order to worship God and to serve our neighbor. Worship comes first but then we are called upon also to serve our God. If Jesus Christ is Lord by virtue of being our creator and savior, he holds the full right to call us into His Service. In the lessons that follow we shall seek to understand why we should serve God, what Christian service entails and how we can attain the designation of being called a faithful servant.
